Sometimes I’m asked if I do smaller weddings and cover ceremony and portraits only, and the answer is always, yes! In fact, I really like shooting smaller weddings, but I’m probably partial because my own wedding was on the smaller side (80 people total). Katie contacted me back in the spring and asked if I would put together a custom package for August wedding. So I met them at the chapel where they were married (including perhaps the cutest flower girl moment ever — their daughter Lily insisted on picking up the petals) and then after everything was official, we took family photos and bridal portraits at Wahby Park in St. Clair Shores. I work with a lot of children at weddings and the kiddos in this wedding party were THE BEST I’ve ever worked with. All we had to do is get them to say “CHEESE” and they smiled big.
I’ve had a lot of brides this year with daughters and it’s been beautiful to watch how they involve them in their preparations and ceremony. John and Katie lit their unity candle with Lily, such a special moment for their little family. I’ve loved capturing these moms and their girls in getting ready photos and portraits. They are some of the sweetest moments that I’m sure they will both cherish forever, and I’m so honored to be capturing them. Makes me all excited to have a daughter someday — hopefully!
John and Katie, I wish you both the best and am so excited for your life together!
